Usher arrives at the premiere of Paramount Pictures’ “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” held at Nokia Theater L.A. Live on February 8, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
Usher performs with the Black Eyed Peas during the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show at Cowboys Stadium on February 6, 2011 in Arlington, Texas.
Usher looks set to duet with Tinie Tempah, after the two become friends when the Pass Out rapper supported him on his European tour.
“We talked about doing something together,” Usher said of himself and Tinie. “He expressed an interest. He’s a great guy and it’s very graceful of him to be so complimentary of me.”
The Yeah! star added that the Tinie hit Miami 2 Ibiza influenced him to contact Swedish House Mafia in an attempt to get a more European sound on his next album. “Those guys are hot. There’s always something incredible coming from Europe, which I think the US is a little behind on.”
Usher also revealed that he recorded a track with David Guetta and Akon when his tour hit Paris recently. “I’ve always been a friend of Akon’s and wanted to do something incredible with David Guetta too. It’s by no means finished but we made a pretty cool song. I’d like to get a new album out early next year.”
Speaking backstage at his Manchester gig, Usher jokingly addressed the rumours that he and his good mate David Beckham are both blessed in the trouser department. “I’m surprised people say David and I are well-endowed because of what they see when I’m on stage and David in his underwear ads.
“How would I know? We’re friends but not like that,” Ush told reporters. “We don’t have pyjama parties.”
“Continuing in the tradition of creating great “GRAMMY Moments,” this year’s show will feature a number of special performances exclusive to the GRAMMY telecast with one-time-only groupings of artists. Among this year’s unique collaborations, mentor and five-time GRAMMY winner Usher will appear with his protégé Bieber, along with Smith, in a dynamic, energetic performance”
Usher va se produire sur la scène des Grammy Awards en compagnie de Justin Bieber et du fils de Will Smith Jaden Smith. D’après les organisateurs de la cérémonie, nous serions en droit de nous attendre à “une performance dynamique et énergique”.
The R&B artist spent a lot of time with the ‘King of Pop’ before his untimely death aged 50 in 2009. He will never forget some of the kind words and advice Michael gave him, and says it’s part of the reason he tries to encourage young artists.
Usher discovered 16-year-old Justin Bieber, and hopes the teenager looks up to him in the same way. “Michael Jackson told me to be the best I can be and know that as people, we are always making history in everything we do. I’ll never forget that,” he explained.
“James Brown is a massive influence on who I am. He once said to me, ‘If you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready.’ People like him and Michael Jackson mentored me, now I hope to mentor the up and coming.”
Usher knew Justin was set for stardom as soon as he heard him sing. The young musician has gone on to achieve worldwide fame, winning hordes of young female fans in the process. Usher was blown away by how strong the teenager’s voice was, and how confident he was as a performer.
“I’m a very proud man,” he told Company magazine.

Pop superstar Usher wasn’t at the top of his game yesterday evening in Berlin.
The 32-year-old singer had been forced to cancel an earlier performance due to sickness, but attempted to go on stage the next evening. However, after two songs of listless lip-syncing and half-hearted dance moves, the crowd began to boo. Usher stood with his head bowed for nearly four minutes, before leaving the stage. An announcer then told the audience that the show was canceled due to sickness.
Usher’s rep later released a statement saying the star was “suffering from upper respiratory illness which is currently preventing him from performing a proper show. After consultation with doctors, he has been advised to reschedule the upcoming dates in order to get the rest he needs to ensure a complete recovery.” Scheduled shows in Antwerp and Rotterdam have been pushed back until March.
“I deeply regret having to reschedule the shows,” said Usher in a statement. “I am truly sorry for any inconvenience I have caused my fans. My fans are the best in the world and I am looking forward to getting better so that I can give them the show they deserve.”
